Replicates

About Replicates

Use the wind, respect the sun, and never shoot the port at noon.

Food, fish soup, rouille and bread

Replicates is a photo and video studio on Rue Sainte, two streets above the Vieux-Port. We work for restaurants, soap makers, fashion labels, hotels on the coast and the agencies who represent them.

The mistral blows the haze out of the sky, so the clearest days here are also the windiest. We plan around it: heavy stands, silk instead of paper, and a backup indoors.

We spend a lot of time on the water. Fishermen at six, boats for a fashion story at five in the afternoon, the calanques from a rented launch.

One crew makes the stills and the film, so the menu, the label and the short film share the same colour and the same light.

Who we shoot for

Most jobs are within a day’s drive of Marseille. Further afield we travel with the core crew and hire assistants locally, and travel is quoted at cost.

  • Hotels and hospitality

Rooms, restaurants and the people who run them, shot across one or two quiet days so guests are not disturbed.

  • Tourism and regions

Places, seasons and the people who live there, for tourist boards, guides and the agencies who brief them.

  • Product and e-commerce

Packshots on clean white and in context, sized and named for every shop and marketplace the brand sells on.

  • Makers and manufacturing

Workshops, machines and the hands on them, shot without stopping the line any longer than needed.

  • Portraits and teams

Staff, founders and boards photographed in one sitting, with a matching set that can grow when people join.

  • Architecture and interiors

Buildings and rooms shot for the architect and for the press, with corrected verticals and honest daylight.
